Penduloid is a kinetic sculpture designed and made in Melbourne by artist Helen Neyland. A runner-up in the Association of Sculptors of Victoria at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, it explores motion, balance, and play through geometric metal forms.
The pendulum is crafted from architectural-grade aluminium, finished in a vivid yellow Dulux powdercoat. It arm swings gently, counterbalanced by a hand-spun Corten steel ball created using age old metal spinning techniques, a craft that’s now fading. The sculpture is interactive by nature: a simple push sets the pendulum in motion, creating a slow, meditative rhythm that blurs the line between stillness and movement.
