Frequent Asked Questions

Yes, most Entanglements metal sculptures are suitable for both indoor and outdoor display.

Many of our sculptures are made from Corten steel, mild steel or aluminium and finished to suit their intended environment. Some intricate designs, including the Human Sculpture and Yabby Sculpture, are made from galvanised wire and powder coated for additional protection.

For sculptures installed in coastal areas or locations exposed to salt air, we recommend periodically applying a suitable clear protective sealant to help preserve the finish and extend the life of the artwork.

Yes, many of our metal sculptures can be powder coated in a wide range of colours.

Where suitable, we generally recommend manufacturing powder-coated sculptures from aluminium because it provides a durable, corrosion-resistant base for the powder-coated finish. However, aluminium may not be appropriate for sculptures that require extensive welding or particular structural properties.

In these cases, the sculpture may be fabricated from steel, zinc coated for additional corrosion protection and then powder coated. Powder coating applied over steel may require more maintenance than powder-coated aluminium, particularly in exposed outdoor or coastal environments.

Depending on the location, exposure and level of care, the sculpture may require recoating after few years.

We can recommend the most appropriate material and finish based on the sculpture’s design and intended location.

Yes, most of our metal sculptures can be manufactured in a custom size to suit your home, garden, commercial project or public space.

Some intricate sculptures, including the Magnolia, Human and Yabby designs, are formed using specially made moulds. Producing these sculptures in a significantly different size may require the creation of a new mould, which can increase the production time and cost.

Please contact us with your preferred dimensions and project requirements so we can advise whether the sculpture can be resized.

Our Corten steel sculptures are sealed after the surface has developed an even rust patina. This protective coating helps prevent rust runoff and staining.

However, exposure to rain, ultraviolet light and changing weather conditions can gradually break down the sealant.

We recommend periodically resealing the sculpture with a suitable clear protective coating. Maintenance instructions are supplied with the artwork, and further information is available on our Care Instructions page.

The most appropriate sculpture installation method depends on the size and weight of the artwork, its design and the surface on which it will be installed.

For sculptures installed on a concrete footing or concrete pad, we can provide a base plate with fixing holes so the artwork can be securely bolted down.

For a more concealed installation, steel fixing rods or spikes can be welded beneath the sculpture’s base. These can be inserted into prepared holes and chemically anchored into the concrete.

We can adapt the fixing method to suit the project and liaise with your builder, landscaper or installer where required. The final installation method should be confirmed by the installer based on the site conditions.

Garden uplights and directional spotlights are commonly used to illuminate outdoor metal sculptures and highlight their shape, texture and shadows at night.

We recommend speaking with a qualified lighting supplier or electrician to select a light fitting that is suitable for the location and the desired lighting effect.

Where required, we can allow space within the sculpture, base or plinth for a nominated light fitting. Please provide the dimensions and installation requirements of the selected light before fabrication so we can incorporate the necessary provision into the design.

We regularly deliver metal sculptures throughout Australia using specialist furniture delivery companies. This provides careful handling and often reduces the amount of protective packaging required.

For areas where specialist furniture delivery is unavailable or not cost-effective, we may use a general freight carrier such as TNT. When a sculpture is transported by a general carrier, it may be secured to a pallet or packed in a custom crate where necessary to protect it during transit.

The packaging and delivery method will depend on the sculpture’s size, weight, shape and destination. We will recommend the most appropriate option before dispatch.

Yes, if it’s a custom designed piece, we will provide you detail drawings showing the footing details and fixing methods prior fabrication.
