Our various laser-cut designs are crafted from mild steel, corten, and aluminum, and are available in a variety of finishes to suit your preferences, including our signature sealed rust, powder-coated, or raw options.

The Entanglements Metal Art team are more than happy to discuss, via phone or email, any installation, shipping or custom size/design enquiries you might have.

Frequent Asked Questions

Our standard decorative metal screens are manufactured from sheet sizes of up to 1200 × 2400 mm or 1500 × 3000 mm. This means the largest screen we can generally produce from a single sheet is approximately 1500 × 3000 mm.

For larger areas, we can design a coordinated arrangement using multiple screen panels, posts or frames. The best panel configuration will depend on the overall dimensions, installation method, material and selected pattern.

Yes, our decorative metal screens can be custom-made to suit your required dimensions.

Individual panels can generally be produced up to 1500 × 3000 mm. Larger installations can be divided into multiple panels and designed as one continuous feature.
We can also adjust the border, pattern position and panel proportions to suit the available space.

Decorative metal screens can be installed in several ways depending on their size, location, supporting structure and intended use.

Common installation methods include:
• Fixing the screen between steel, aluminium or timber posts
• Attaching the screen to the front or rear of existing posts
• Welding or fixing the screen into a freestanding metal frame
• Mounting the screen directly to a wall or structure using brackets
• Incorporating the screen into a gate, fence or architectural feature
We can include suitable fixing holes, tabs, brackets or framed edges during fabrication. The final fixing method should be confirmed by your builder or installer based on the site conditions.

Our decorative metal screens are commonly available in natural Corten steel or powder-coated aluminium.

Corten steel develops a natural rust patina that changes gradually over time. Powder-coated aluminium is available in a wide range of colours, including standard architectural and custom powder-coat finishes.

We can recommend a suitable material and finish based on whether the screen will be installed indoors, outdoors, near a swimming pool or in a coastal environment.

Entanglements does not provide installation services directly. However, for projects in Victoria, we can recommend qualified builders and installers we regularly work with.

For interstate projects, or where you already have a preferred installer, we can liaise with them throughout the design and fabrication process. We can also adapt the screen’s framing and fixing provisions to suit the agreed installation method.

The level of privacy provided by a decorative metal screen depends on the selected pattern, the size of the openings and the viewing distance.

Each design has a different open-area percentage. Patterns with smaller or more closely spaced openings provide greater visual screening, while more open designs allow additional light, airflow and visibility.

In many cases, we can adjust the pattern to provide more or less privacy while maintaining the overall appearance of the design.

Yes, the openings in many of our decorative screen patterns can be reduced to provide greater privacy or suit a particular project requirement.

The pattern may need to be adjusted to maintain adequate strength and ensure it can be manufactured successfully. Very small openings or narrow sections may not be practical in every material or panel size.

We can review your preferred design and recommend an appropriate opening size.

Yes, we can customise one of our existing decorative screen patterns or create a completely original design for your project.

Custom designs can be developed from artwork, photographs, logos, architectural concepts or ideas supplied by you. We will review the design to make sure it is suitable for laser cutting, structurally practical and appropriate for the selected panel size and material.

Additional design fees may apply for completely custom artwork.

Yes, the scale, spacing and position of many decorative screen patterns can be customised.

We can enlarge or reduce the pattern, alter the border dimensions and adjust the layout to suit the proportions of the panel. Pattern changes may also be used to increase privacy or coordinate the design across multiple adjoining screens.

Any adjustments must maintain sufficient material between the cut-outs so the finished screen remains stable and suitable for fabrication.

Decorative metal screens can be used near swimming pools, provided the selected material, finish, design and installation method are suitable for the environment.

If the screen forms part of a pool barrier, its openings, height, clearances and climbability must comply with the applicable pool-safety and building regulations. These requirements can vary depending on the location and how the screen is being used.

The proposed design should be reviewed and approved by your building surveyor, pool-barrier inspector or another appropriately qualified professional before fabrication. Powder-coated aluminium is generally recommended for areas regularly exposed to pool water, chemicals or moisture.

Powder-coated aluminium is generally the preferred material for decorative screens installed in coastal locations.

Aluminium does not develop iron rust and provides good resistance to outdoor exposure. Before powder coating, our aluminium screens receive a suitable surface pretreatment to improve coating adhesion and corrosion resistance.

Coastal screens still require periodic cleaning with fresh water to remove salt deposits and airborne contaminants. The required maintenance frequency will depend on the screen’s distance from the coastline and its level of exposure.

Powder-coated aluminium is generally more suitable than untreated or standard painted steel for coastal environments because it does not develop iron rust.

Our aluminium screens are pretreated and powder coated to provide additional protection and a durable-coloured finish.
